Tropical cyclone Amphan hit Bangladesh and eastern India on 20 May 2020. Strong winds up to 113km/hr and heavy rains pounded coastal villages and cities, bringing down power lines, uprooting trees and destroying homes. More than three million people are evacuated from low-lying areas and nine killed.
