Looking at the sustainability elements of Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) campus.
What are the elements in the campus showing environmental sustainability?
What are the elements in the campus showing social sustainability?
What are the elements in the campus showing economic sustainability?
Who are involved in sustainable development?
Where is SIT located?
Why is there a need to promote sustainable development?
When was the campus built?
How does the different stakeholders play a part in the sustainable development?
The campus is so sustainable, environmentally, socially and economically. So much greenery in the building to reduce urban island heat effect.
High security.
Economic sustainability. Some of the partners are located at the Punggol. The bridge link the campus to Punggol digital district where the work is. It also reduce the transport cost.
Just like the halls and offices in the building, the auditorium has sensors which detect movements. The lights will be switched on when it detects the presence of people via movements.
The campus is also very inclusive, with lifts and ramps for the wheelchair users.
A really nice view of Coney Island from the canteen. Many students gather here and a common space which promotes social sustainability.
The students have to bring their own cups for drinks to reduce on the use of disposables.
The solar panels on top of the canteen.
The micro-grid, with energy from solar etc, can support the whole campus even if there is an island wide electricity failure.
Learning Journey with my school on 17 Nov 2025.
